Join us as we chat about this month's book, "Clap When You Land," by Elizabeth Acevedo.
In 2001, just months after Sept. 11, a plane flying from New York to the Dominican Republic crashed in Queens, killing everyone on board. This is the starting point of Elizabeth Acevedo’s new novel, written in verse, about two teenage sisters, one in New York and the other in the Dominican Republic, who discover each other’s existence when their father dies in the crash. Written in two voices, each sister tells the story from her perspective – navigating the grief, the uncertainty and ultimately the connection to family, together. It’s a beautifully written trip into the lives of two young people in totally different worlds, both yearning for the same things: belonging and identity.
The event is FREE and all are welcome. RSVP is required.
